Weeknight Wandering (Nebo)

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

I love to get in my vehicle and periodically drive to Mt. Nebo. If you go early in the morning, just before sunrise, the deer, squirrels and rabbits are out eating and scurrying about and likewise just before sunset. I am always amazed at the beautiful canvas painted by the greatest artist, our maker and creator, God. The sunrises and sunsets atop this mountain are breathtaking.

A few evenings ago, I contacted my friend and asked her if she wanted to go with me for a picnic, to see the deer, and of course the anticipated beautiful sunset. We picked up dinner and headed up the mountain. While enjoying our meal, we had the most magnificent view of the valley below. Our view was spectacular and extended for miles. Lakes, mountains and highways could be seen in the distance.

We took a tour around the mountain and to our surprise, the deer were out in full force. A group of bucks were clustered in a backyard. We stopped and were able to get several nice shots with our cameras and had a nice visit with the residents.

We then drove around and the fawns were out with their mothers. The fawns were resting on the lawn while the does were grazing. We were able to get up close and personal for awesome photo shots of the babies without them bolting. There's nothing any sweeter than babies, whether it be animals or children.

It was getting close to sunset as we drove to Sunset point. God showed out. The weather was perfect and the sunset was beautiful. We sat on the rocks, taking in the beauty, and pointing out various figures and shapes in the cloud formations. Just for a moment in time, cares were gone, and we reverted back to being a child again.

Take time out of your busy schedule to enjoy life. It doesn't take a fortune to have a great dinner with a fantastic view and a wonderful sunset. It's all around us.

Just remember to take time for YOU and enjoy your surroundings.
