Weekend Wanderer- First Day of Summer.

Today is the first day of summer. You have to have a little summertime fun, especially this day.

My youngest son and his 4 kids spent the day with me and they all enjoyed the water slide. I sat in a lawn chair enjoying the laughter, a few splashes now and then and squirts with the water guns.

We decided to go on a short trip but first lunch on the front porch, brownies, a few photos...well several, and a long nap. A trip to Nebo seemed to be the perfect way to end the day.

The sky was a beautiful blue as we traveled through Russellville. As we approached Mt. Nebo, dark clouds and fog loomed over the mountain. The pavement was wet and gave the appearance of recent rain.

We decided to drive around the mountain to look for deer. A couple were camouflaged in the woods but the keen eyes of Seth and Porter allowed for a few pics. One deer was literally near some’s front door

Since it had recently rained, I decided to check out a waterfall. Leaving Seth and the kids in the car, I walked down to see if the Falls had any water. While it was not pouring, the water was flowing. The trail down was easy, but since I was in a hurry to get back to the car, I did a lot of huffing and puffing on the way back. Note to self: There’s a reason a sign says, “Strenuous”.

We drove around Sunset Point and then down the mountain. The kids were looking forward to playing on the playground but yellow tape encased the slides, the swings, and the entire area. Covid-19, we are through with you and want our life back. Our kids just don’t understand and neither do I. Will life ever be the same?

We stopped by the pull-off for a snapshot of the fog in the valley. God even blessed us with a beautiful sunset.

So thankful I got to wander today.

Psalm 147:8 “Who covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.”
