Natural Dam and Backroads. Wandering with my sister.

I’ve been wanting to spend more time with my sister so I called her up and asked her to go exploring with me.

Today was a beautiful day for an adventure. We decided to check out Natural Dam which is off Hwy 59 North of Van Buren.

The falls were not pouring over the dam as I had hoped. We found one area at the end that was flowing quite well. We climbed on some rocks, took a few pictures and stood there enjoying the relaxing sounds of the water as it spilled over the wall. As we were leaving, a young boy told us there was a snake where we had been. Thankfully we didn’t break a leg trying to get away from there.

We walked down a trail, watched a few people swim, drove down the dirt road to turn around and were on our way.

i decided to take a highway going east thinking it would come out somewhere near Alma. i put in Alma and Russellville in the GPS and they both said, “take a u turn” so we had to back track. We saw some interesting names for small communities such as Figure Five and Oliver Springs.

We later turned on a back road that said “Rudy” and we were on our way again. Backroads...better than the interstate any old day.

We found a neat little gem tucked away off Hwy 64 on the Mulberry River, Bluff Hole Park This is a place I’d definitely take the family for a swim and picnic.

The next time you decide to go wandering, take the backroads. You’ll never see sites like this on the interstate.
